Eye's on Tech

Notice your experiences looking at screens.

How do you protect your eyes from the lights?

  • Blue Light Screen-shields

  • Adjusted display settings

  • Blue Light Lenses

In addition to altering the lights from technology, we may also strengthen our eyes.

An eye exercise to incorporate into your routine is the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. I learned this tip from Ocushield as part of the Digital Wellness Institue Certification Course.

Another important practice their share is blinking.

When deeply focused looking at a screen, it is common to go sometime without blinking.

Remind yourself to continue blinking throughout the day and your eyes will thank you!

Eye Health

Gratitude

May we express our deepest appreciation for the gift of sight.

Blink.

In the blink of an eye, life goes by. How may we appreciate the gifts that we are fortunate to see? Perhaps we may not be able to see with our two eyes. What about our third eye?

Imagine what continues to be possible from all that you see? Nurture your eyes as you honor their divinity

It can be as simple as blinking regularly, adjusting lights, and seeing your optometrist regularly.

🥕In addition to eating carrots, you can get nutrients that nourish your eye health from CarotoMax.👀

Potent nutrients

CarotoMax contains these most potent nutrients, along with other beneficial carotenoids, including beta-carotene and astaxanthin.

The key nutrients in CarotoMax have been shown to:

  • Increase the density of the macular pigment, an area critical to visual acuity*

  • Help filter harmful UV light

  • Support healthy eye aging*

Evolving Vision

How may our vision (literally) evolve with our technology?

Support your eye health by:

  • Blinking regularly

  • After looking at a screen for 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

  • Wear blue light protecting eye-gear

Learn from experts including August of Tech Wellness!

Digital Flourishing Tip: Blue Light Glasses

“White LEDs may actually emit more blue light than traditional light sources, even though the blue light might not be perceived by the user. This blue light is unlikely to pose a physical hazard to the retina. But it may stimulate the circadian clock (your internal biological clock) more than traditional light sources, keeping you awake, disrupting sleep, or having other effects on your circadian rhythm.” via Health.Harvard

Keeping an organized digital space:

  • Clean Desktop Screen - Folders can hold frequent files and downloads.

  • Focus on one tab at a time. Make it full-screen on your device while completing the task.

  • Do not disturb mode. Turn notifications Off. —> Digital Deep Work.

look to see possibilities.

appreciate the moment.

Sight is one of our strongest senses.

Pause and appreciate.

When our minds start to wander and drift from the moment, obvious details can be blurred.

Get curious.

Have your eyes always been such a deep speckled green?

What does the air smell like on a day after a thunderstorm?

What do you see outside of your window?

Try this observation exercise at home.

Take a moment to recognize your surroundings and zoom in on the fine details. Cover your eyes and look in another direction than you were previously. Uncover your eyes and take notice of any details that you didn't notice before. Whether it’s a pattern on your clothes, the grain of the wood, the color of the sky. R

eflect and appreciate what you see and what you are now aware of.

Practice this exercise and you will feel the gratefulness building inside of you.

Open your eyes to discover.

Take a walk. Create a mental list of everything that you haven’t noticed before.

What color is your neighbor’s mailbox? What kind of trees are growing in your area?

Be present in this moment.

Appreciate me-time.
